Small businesses run by women are not just a growing trend, but in fact, are contributing to the job growth and economic success. The 2012 U.S. Census Bureau’s Survey of Small Business Owners showed there are more women-owned businesses than ever before, 9.9 million women-owned businesses to be exact. That is 28% jump from 7.8 million in 2007! Women-owned businesses also makeup 36% of all business in the USA and employ over 8.9 million people. If this is not something to celebrate, then I don’t know what is.

Sara Blakely is the youngest self-made female billionaire. When she founded her company, Spanx, she did not have a lot of her own money to invest in it. She was rejected many times by investors, but she put in the time and hard work, and eventually, her business took off with the help of Oprah boosting awareness of her brand.
