ABA TechShow Chicago Meetup: A Social Success

With the room filled near capacity and a crowd abuzz with energy from the first full day of ABA TechShow, our Sociable Lawyer Meetup proved to be the perfect way to finish the day (or start the night for some).  Celebrating its ‘silver jubilee’ and 25th year of production, ABA TechShow is widely known for bringing the latest advancements in legal technology to all those involved in the legal industry.  Our Sociable Lawyer team was on hand to offer a relaxed way to network outside of the exhibition hall, and the event gave attorneys a great chance to get to know each other and share how to use online and social media tools in their practices.

Sociable Lawyers, our short-hand for attorneys who are considered tech-savvy and share an interest in social media and networking, filled Kitty O’Sheas authentic Irish pub at the Hilton Chicago and rehashed the day over free drinks and appetizers.  The lively crowd represented the broad spectrum of an active legal technology community, and there was a steady stream of tweets to show for it.  Some prominent attendees included Andrea Cannavina, Legal Virtual Assistant, and Matthew Homan, founder of LexThink LLC and a keynote speaker at this year’s conference.–>

While networking opportunities run abound at conferences like these, our Meetups are different from the pack because they are free to attend, and are equal parts social and social media. Lawyers are encouraged to expand their professional network and continue the conversation online, further cementing connections made throughout the day.  If the amount of LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook profiles exchanged among attendees is any indication of success,  we are certainly hitting our mark!

If you are a lawyer interested in the latest legal technology strategies to improve your practice and want to tap into a great resource for attorney networking, please join our Meetup group, follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, or subscribe to our blog. We look forward to connecting with you online and meeting you at our next event!
