Rent receipt checklist
Make it Legal™ Checklist
Here are a few important steps to take to finish your document
The landlord or their agent should sign the Rent Receipt. You can sign your Rent Receipt by either:
-
printing it and signing by hand, or
-
signing online using RocketSign
Send your signed Rent Receipt to your tenant(s) (known as ‘contract holders’ in Wales). If you have multiple tenants in the same property, they should:
-
receive one Receipt if they pay the rent together
-
receive one Receipt per tenant or contract holder if they each pay rent separately
Keep a copy of your Rent Receipt for your records. If the Rent Receipt is sent via email (eg attached to an email), also save any ‘read receipts’ or copies of replies to the email.
A copy of your Rent Receipt will also be stored automatically in your Rocket Lawyer account ‘Dashboard’.
Your tenant(s)/contract holder(s) should keep their copy of the Rent Receipt for their records.
