Thomas seeks to approach life and work alike with enthusiasm and energy. His passions include advising employees and employers on employment law, as well as specialising in commercial disputes, data protection law, and litigation and dispute resolution. 

Perhaps against stereotype, Thomas believes that settlement of disputes is often more advantageous than disputes reaching court or tribunal. In seeking to achieve this, he often employs a pragmatic ‘big picture’ approach to legal issues in order to advise clients of their best next steps.

One of his career highlights involves achieving a confidential settlement with an international football club requiring them to make material changes to their stadium (affecting overall capacity) by improving their facilities for disabled fans after lodging a claim under the Equality Act 2010 for a minor. Thomas also enjoyed various victories within Employment Tribunal claims, which, in his view, always feels like setting a personal best at the end of a marathon…

One of Thomas’ most enjoyable aspects of being a solicitor is advising a wide variety of clients, whether employees, employers, SMEs, or huge corporations. Each client has different goals and alternative ways of achieving them, which makes work in this area extremely rewarding. 

Thomas’ role with Rocket Lawyer covers any client wishing for legal assistance in his areas of expertise and he is  privileged to have been introduced to many wonderful, interesting clients. It is his privilege to assist individuals in need of legal advice and to have three matters for three parties which are completely different from the last.

Thomas also enjoys not being a one trick pony with specialisms in most areas of litigation, including data protection and GDPR-related work, for various parts. To use one example, acting for both employees and employers within employment law work enables him to advise clients as to what options and advice the other side would obtain from him, thus making his advice more detailed and negotiations more predictable in the long-run.

She has a BA in English from the University of Exeter and an LLM in Law and Legal Practice from BPP University. She is currently working towards qualifying as a solicitor and is taking her SQE exams. She has a wide field of interest in commercial and corporate law, especially in company, competition, intellectual property, and tech-related law. 

Sophie enjoys doing pro bono work and volunteering when she can, so she’s a strong advocate for Rocket Lawyer’s ‘justice for all’ ethos.

Outside of work, Sophie enjoys writing recreationally and submitting essays to legal essay competitions, which makes her an ideal legal content writer!
