Collaboration agreement checklist

Make it Legal™ Checklist

Here are a few important steps to take to finish your document

Read the Collaboration Agreement to make sure it meets your needs and that everyone involved agrees with the Agreement.

Remember that if you have any questions you can easily Ask a lawyer.

Signing online

  1. You can select to sign online using Rocket Lawyer.

  2. The parties to the Agreement will receive an email invite to sign online.

Signing in print

  1. Print a copy for each party to the Agreement.

  2. Sign and date both copies.

  3. Send both copies to the other party and ask them to date and sign them before returning one copy to you.

Note that schedule 1 - project schedule is designed to be signed in print, after the parties have agreed to the specific terms of the project schedule.

The date of the contract is the date on which the parties signed if that was the same day. If they signed on different days, then it is the day when the last person signed.

Schedule 1 - project schedule does not have to be signed at the same time as the entire Collaboration Agreement. Instead, schedule 1 - project schedule should be signed if and when the parties agree on the terms of the project schedule. This will often be after the Collaboration Agreement has already been signed.

Each party should safely store their copy of the signed Collaboration Agreement.

A copy of your document will be stored automatically in your Rocket Lawyer account ‘Dashboard’.

If you signed online, you should also download and securely store a copy of your signed contract for your records. If you signed in print, you should securely store your paper copy of the signed contract.
