Here are a few important steps to take to finish your document

Read the document to make sure it meets your needs and that everyone involved agrees with the Vehicle Bill of Sale.

If you are attaching a diagram showing faults or damages to the vehicle, the Vehicle Bill of Sale cannot be sold online. Instead, the diagrams must be attached manually and the documents must be signed in print.

Signing online

  1. You can sign online using RocketSign.

  2. The other party will receive an email invite to sign online.

Signing in print

  1. Print a copy of the Vehicle Bill of Sale for each party.

  2. Sign and date both copies.

  3. Send both copies to the other party and ask them to date and sign them before returning one copy to you. 

  4. The date of the contract is the date on which the parties signed if that was the same day. If they signed on different days, then it is the day when the last person signed.

Each party should safely store their copy of the signed Vehicle Bill of Sale. 

A copy of your document will be stored automatically in your Rocket Lawyer account ‘Dashboard’.

If you signed online, you should also download and securely store a copy of your signed contract for your records. If you signed in print, you should securely store your paper copy of the signed contract.

Both the buyer and seller must remember to complete any necessary notifications including to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). For more information, read Buying and selling a vehicle.
