Document Review Terms
Last Modified: September 23, 2024
These terms and conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Rocket Lawyer’s complimentary legal document review service ("Service"). By availing yourself of this Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms in conjunction with our main Terms of Service and Privacy Policy available on our website (“Website”).
1. Eligibility
-
To be eligible for our complimentary legal document review service, you must either be in a Free or Premium Trial offer, or in a paid membership.
-
The document submitted for review must exclusively be a template provided by Rocket Lawyer. The Service does not include the review of third-party documents or the following documents from our Website:
-
Eviction Notices, including those under the Housing Act 1988 (Section 8 and 21), and the Renting Homes (Wales) Act 2016 (Section 173). We offer a separate review service for eviction notices, details which can be accessed from the Website;
-
Employee Handbook;
-
Party Wall Agreement; and
-
Commercial leases (including sub-leases and variations)
-
-
The Service includes reviewing the template as provided and any information added during our online document creation process. Significant additions or amendments made by you to the document fall outside the scope of the Service. Any such modifications will require a separate review service agreement.
-
If you are a Rocket Legal monthly member, you are entitled to a maximum of one (1) document review per calendar month. This limitation ensures we can complete reviews for all our members. Any additional requests for document reviews within the same month will need to be deferred to the following month.
2. Scope of Service
Upon submitting your document for review through the Service, it will be reviewed by a professional according to our “4C Checklist” (“Review”). The parameters of the Review will include:
Correct:
An evaluation to ascertain whether the document is appropriate for its intended purpose, ensuring alignment with your specific needs.
Corrections:
Identification of errors or omissions within the document. This involves an examination of names, dates, and other critical details specifically requested during the document creation process.
Customisations:
Additional Clauses: An evaluation to determine the necessity of supplementary clauses to meet your specific requirements.
Ancillary Documents: Identification of the need for ancillary documents to complement the reviewed document.
Consultation:
An assessment of whether a detailed consultation with a legal professional would be of significant benefit to you. Recommendations for a consultation will be based on any complexities or uncertainties within the document that warrant expert advice, providing necessary insights and guidance.
The duration required for the review of a document shall be contingent upon the length and complexity of the document submitted. It is envisaged that a standard review will take approximately 30 minutes per document. This estimated timeframe is provided for guidance purposes only and is subject to variation based on the specific characteristics and complexities inherent in each document. All reviews shall be undertaken by a duly qualified legal professional, whether solicitor or paralegal, as deemed appropriate.
3. Timeliness of Review
-
Upon submission of the document for review, we endeavour to conduct the Review within 5 business days.
-
The review period commences on the first business day following the submission of the document.
-
In the even t that unforeseen circumstances or complexities arise, resulting in a delay beyond the specified timeframe, we will promptly notify you of the revised timeline.
4. Limitations
-
Legal Advice: The Service does not constitute legal advice. It is a review and assessment service for informational purposes and recommendation for further legal assistance only.
-
No Guarantee: We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of the document for your particular situation, and we are not responsible for any consequences arising from its use. -
Our liability for any errors, omissions, or other issues arising from the Service is limited to the fee paid by you for one (1) month’s membership fee.

We are not liable for any consequential, indirect, or incidental damages arising out of the Service.

7. Additional Services
-
Any additional services beyond the complimentary Review, including the drafting of additional clauses or ancillary documents, amendments (including corrections) or consultation with a lawyer, will be subject to separate fees and our Legal Advice Terms.
-
In the event that the Review concludes that additional services are necessary, we will provide you with a separate no-obligation quote.
-
You will have the option to accept or decline the quote. Acceptance of the quote will initiate the provision of the specified additional services, subject to the completion of our onboarding process and payment.
