What is a General Liability Release of Claims?
If you're performing services at another's property and want to reduce risk, use a General Liability Release of Claims to protect yourself from legal liability. The General Release bars any legal claims from being brought against you for your actions or services. When a party you're involved with signs a General Release they are releasing you from any legal action that can be taken against you — including all known and unknown claims. A General Liability Release of Claims is most often used when you are performing work on another's property, holding an event on another's property or performing any services that place you at risk for potential legal claims. Occasionally, a party will sign a General Release to give up a claim against another party in exchange for money or other compensation.
When to use a General Liability Release of Claims:
- You are working with another party and want to be released from potential liability claims that may arise during the business relationship.
