How we create content that helps you take confident legal action

At Rocket Lawyer, we strive to make the law accessible for all by enabling business owners and individuals to take action with confidence. Our content—and the editorial policies and processes behind it—reflect our commitment to making legal topics accessible, trustworthy, and accurate as possible.

Our Values

Our editorial values—accuracy, accessibility, actionability, and trustworthiness—guide everything we create, so you can take confident legal action when it matters most.

Accuracy
In the legal world, accuracy isn’t optional—it’s essential. We ensure every piece of content is clear, reliable, and up to date, relying on reputable sources and expert review. While many of our articles are reviewed by legal professionals and provide valuable information, our content should not be taken as a substitute for personalized legal advice.
Accessibility
You shouldn’t need a law degree to understand your legal options. That’s why we use plain, conversational language, avoid unnecessary jargon, and break down complex topics into clear, practical steps.
Actionability
Legal knowledge should lead to action. Our content is designed to empower you—whether you’re starting a business, making a will, or resolving a dispute. Behind every article is our commitment to helping you be Confidently Legal®.
Trustworthiness
We are transparent about our process and the limits of our content. Many articles are created or reviewed by legal professionals, editors, and subject matter experts. In all cases, our editorial process is designed to ensure what we publish serves our members first.

Editorial Policies and Processes

Our editorial and legal experts work together to ensure that every piece of content is reliable, actionable, and up to date.

Processes

We follow a rigorous process to ensure everything we publish is trustworthy and easy to understand.

Our content is created by a diverse team—including in-house writers, freelance contributors, legal professionals, leadership, and occasionally, affiliate partners. We also use AI-assisted tools to help generate or refine content, but human experts are always responsible for review and approval.

We choose what to publish based on:

  • Anonymized questions from Rocket Lawyer members
  • Legal answers from our external Legal Pros
  • Feedback and trends gathered from customer support and surveys
  • Insights from editorial and SEO strategy, including search trends and analytics

Every piece of content follows a structured editorial process:

  1. Drafted by a qualified contributor
  2. Reviewed by an editor for clarity and helpfulness
  3. Reviewed, when appropriate, by a Legal Pro and/or subject matter expert for accuracy and compliance
  4. Final check for readability, brand alignment, and publication readiness

In some cases, we publish affiliate partner content. These pieces are clearly labeled and are reviewed for alignment with our editorial standards.

Our editorial team maintains independence from business or partner influence. Content decisions are based on what serves our members—not on external relationships.

Commitment

The law can—and does—change. We work hard to keep our content current by regularly reviewing and updating existing pages based on:

  • Legal and regulatory changes
  • Member feedback
  • Internal reviews and scheduled audits

Many of our pages include the date it was last updated so you know how current the information is. You’ll also find sources to see where we got our information.

If you ever spot an issue, or think something we’ve published needs correction or clarification, please let us know or email us at support@rocketlawyer.com. We take every report seriously and use it as an opportunity to improve.

Use of AI

At Rocket Lawyer, we believe AI tools can support our mission to make the law more accessible—but they are never a substitute for human judgment, expertise, or legal review.

We may use AI to assist with content development, such as:

  • Brainstorming or structuring article drafts
  • Summarizing existing content
  • Copy editing

However, every piece of content we publish is developed, reviewed, and revised by our team of editors and legal professionals to ensure relevance, clarity, and legal accuracy. No content is published without multiple rounds of careful human oversight and fact-checking.

We are committed to using AI responsibly and transparently, with the same goal that drives all our editorial processes: helping you be Confidently Legal®.

Security

At Rocket Lawyer, protecting your information is an essential part of building trust. We take a proactive approach to security and use industry-standard practices to safeguard customer data.

Our security measures include:

  • Ongoing monitoring and testing to help identify and address potential risks.
  • Regular reviews and updates to our security systems and protocols.
  • Limiting access to personal data
  • Strong encryption in use for all data at rest and in transit

We also encourage responsible disclosure. If you believe you've found a potential security vulnerability, please report it here so our security team can investigate.
