Question

Is my contract valid if I didn’t sign every page?

I signed the last page, but not all pages — can they still charge a cancellation fee or enforce the agreement?

Answer

It can be stressful to realize you didn't sign every page of a contract — especially if the other party is now demanding a cancellation fee. Missing signatures on every page don't automatically make a contract invalid in many situations.

If you signed the final page and acted as though you agreed to the deal (for example, by making payments or starting the service), that can be strong evidence that you intended to accept the full agreement. Courts often look at people's actions and the overall evidence of agreement, not just how many pages were signed.

However, if the cancellation clause was hidden on an unsigned page that you never reviewed or agreed to, you may have reasons to question or dispute it, depending on the facts and applicable law. Key factors include whether the clause was clearly shown, whether all pages were attached when you signed, and whether the terms match what was discussed.

Before things escalate:

  • Review whether the cancellation fee was clearly listed or attached to the signed pages.
  • Gather emails, texts, or notes showing what terms were discussed.

Contact the company to explain their concern — sometimes companies reduce or waive fees if the communication was unclear.

What to consider in your specific situation

Each situation can differ depending on details like:

  • The type of contract or service involved.
  • Whether all pages were attached when you signed.
  • The clarity and visibility of the cancellation clause.
  • Applicable state contract laws.
  • Your communication and actions after signing.
