Flooring Contract document preview

What is a Flooring Contract?

If you are a flooring installer, you should consider making Flooring Contracts in order to safeguard your business interests when you are planning to provide services. Signed by both the property owner and the flooring service provider, this essential contract can help to set reasonable expectations and reduce the risk of conflicts. This document can be used to outline the scope of work, materials used, insurance, and warranties related to putting in new floors or performing repairs.

When to use a Flooring Contract:

  • You're hiring a contractor to lay down a new floor or provide flooring repair.
  • You're being hired as a contractor to provide flooring service or maintenance.

Flooring Contract FAQs

  • Should a flooring installer create a Flooring Contract each time they are hired?

No matter who your clients are, it is always a best practice to create a Flooring Contract. You might decide that you want to use this document because it can grant the benefits listed below:

    • The flooring installer and property owner both understand the scope of their responsibilities
    • Start and end dates are established
    • Payment requirements are well-defined

Anyone who fails to sign a Flooring Agreement should prepare for certain issues, including unrealistic requests and confusion about deadlines.

  • What information should a Flooring Installation Contract contain?

To draft a Flooring Contract right now, you'll need to prepare the following details:

    • The property owner's full name and address
    • What specific tasks you will be doing once hired
    • What the duration of the engagement is
    • How much you will charge

As you may expect from an agreement like this, any Flooring Contract built with Rocket Lawyer will also contain the typical language about the independent work relationship between the parties, confidentiality, liability for losses, and dispute resolution methods. During the process of building your agreement, you'll also have the ability to determine which state's jurisdiction it is subject to. More customization is allowed, if necessary.

  • On average, how much would I usually have to pay for a flooring contract template?

Attorney fees for drafting or reviewing a Flooring Contract can vary widely. Many lawyers charge hourly rates that may range from around $100 for less experienced attorneys to $350 or more per hour for highly experienced attorneys in major metropolitan areas. For more routine documents, some attorneys may offer flat-fee pricing.

The total cost will depend on several factors, including your location, the attorney’s experience, and the complexity of your agreement. More documents or situations involving negotiation will typically require more time and increase the overall cost.

With Rocket Lawyer, you can create a personalized Flooring Contract tailored to your specific needs—without the high cost typically associated with hiring a lawyer. If you have questions or want additional peace of mind, you can also get your document reviewed or ask a Legal Pro for guidance.

  • Will there be any additional actions to take next after writing my contract for flooring installation?

After drafting your Flooring Contract, review it carefully. You may also want to review it with the other party to ensure all parties fully understand and agree to the terms of the agreement. Once all parties agree to the terms, the next step is to have all parties sign it, and each party should keep a copy for their records. It’s also a good idea to store it in a safe, accessible place in case you need to reference it later.

  • Can my Flooring Contract be evaluated by an attorney before I sign?

It’s smart to have an important agreement reviewed before you sign, so you fully understand the terms and avoid potential risks.

While some attorneys may review documents they didn’t draft, others may decline or require a retainer, hourly billing, or a flat fee. This can make getting a legal document review of your Flooring Contract less predictable and more time-consuming.

Rocket Lawyer makes the process simpler. With a Rocket Lawyer membership, you can request a review from a Legal Pro or ask questions about your Flooring Contract. You can also use Rocket Copilot to quickly review your agreement, spot potentially risky terms, and make sure everything looks accurate before signing.

Once you’re ready, you can sign your document online with RocketSign—all in one place.
