Sometimes you need to explain what's yours. An Affidavit of Ownership can make clear how you purchased or inherited a piece of real property or a vehicle. Use an Affidavit of Ownership when you need to prove that you own something.
An Affidavit of Ownership is often used when a Deed or Certificate of Title isn't enough. Most commonly, banks and lenders providing financing will request that you provide an Affidavit of Ownership. Or, county recorders may require you to provide additional proof of your ownership. Your Affidavit declares you are the rightful owner of the property or vehicle and explains the details of your ownership. Check with your state laws, as a copy of the Real Property Deed or Certificate of Title is often required as an attachment to this document.
