Ask a Legal Pro and Consult a Legal Pro Live Terms
January 13, 2026
1. Ask a Legal Pro and Consult a Legal Pro Live communications are NOT Legal Advice
The Consult a Legal Pro Live product is a live discussion with a Legal Pro, who may be an attorney or paralegal, and will tell you generally applicable legal information, but not professional legal advice tailored to your facts and circumstances. The same is true of the answer you receive via our Ask a Legal Pro product. In both cases, our Legal Pros share general legal knowledge to help you understand your situation. By accepting these terms, you hereby acknowledge and agree that Rocket Lawyer is not giving you professional legal advice under a license to practice law in any state, your live discussion does not create an attorney-client relationship, and no attorney-client privilege exists between you and the Legal Pro or Rocket Lawyer.
2. How it Works, Cancellations and Missed Consults
You can book and manage your consults from your account on Rocket Lawyer’s website.
You can only book one consult at a time.
If you cancel your consult more than 24 hours before your scheduled meeting time, your entitlement will remain available.
If you cancel your consult within 24 hours of your meeting time, one entitlement will be deducted from your account.
If we call you at the number you provided at your scheduled meeting time and we can’t reach you, your consult will be marked as missed, and one entitlement will be deducted. You can always book another consult using your remaining entitlements.
We encourage you to plan ahead to avoid losing a meeting.
3. Rescheduling
Sometimes unexpected issues arise. If a Legal Pro’s schedule changes or your Consult is cancelled, you will receive a notification directing you to reschedule for another time.
4. Cancellations by Rocket Lawyer
If we need to cancel your consult because a Legal Pro is no longer available or due to other unforeseen circumstances, we’ll restore one entitlement to your account. We’ll always aim to notify you as soon as possible.
The RLPS Services Agreement and External Pro Terms of Service may also Apply
In some circumstances, such as certain practice areas in certain less populated states, we will have your question or consult fulfilled by an external, independent legal professional. In that case, the External Pro Terms of Service will also apply.
In other circumstances, Legal Pros who answer your questions or perform legal consults may also be working for our law firm, Rocket Legal Professional Services, Inc. In those cases, we have explained a bit further how this works in the RLPS Services Agreement.
These terms exist to help our customers understand more about who is answering your question or performing your consult, and clearly delineate for you, that you are not receiving professionally licensed legal advice via the Ask a Legal Pro and Consult a Legal Pro Live products.
