Rocket Lawyer MCP Technical Documentation
The Rocket Lawyer MCP server lets AI assistants, including Claude and other compatible applications, connect people to Rocket Lawyer attorney services without leaving the conversation.
ARTICLE SUMMARY
The Rocket Lawyer MCP server lets AI assistants, including Claude and other compatible applications, connect people to Rocket Lawyer attorney services without leaving the conversation.
Once a user connects their Rocket Lawyer account, their assistant can:
- Offer legal help options whenever a legal topic comes up in the conversation.
- Book a live attorney consultation — a 20-minute phone call with an attorney, scheduled entirely in chat.
- Submit a written legal question to an attorney and get a written answer within 1 business day, with follow-up questions supported.
- Check on questions and answers — see past questions and read the attorney’s answers.
- Attach a document such as a contract, lease, or letter to a question or consultation through a secure upload link.
- Check the user’s membership and point them to checkout if their plan doesn’t cover a service.
The server offers 10 tools and 1 reference resource, the list of U.S. states. Every tool requires the user to be signed in with their Rocket Lawyer account.
Authentication and connection
Process:
- In their AI application, the user opens the connectors or integrations settings and adds the Rocket Lawyer MCP server.
- The application asks them to sign in with their Rocket Lawyer account and approve access. This uses OAuth, so users do not need an API key or need to copy their Rocket Lawyer credentials into the application.
- Back in the conversation, the user can ask for legal help. The assistant selects the appropriate tool for the task.
Server address:
Connection type:
- Streamable HTTP
Sign-in:
- Rocket Lawyer account via OAuth. The AI application discovers the sign-in requirements and handles the flow for the user.
Available capabilities
Book a live attorney consultation
The assistant walks the user through the process step by step. It confirms the user’s state and area of law, shows available time slots, summarizes the situation for the attorney, collects a callback phone number, confirms the details with the user, checks that their plan covers consultations, and books the call.
- Example ask: “I’m having a dispute with my landlord in Colorado — can I talk to a lawyer about it?”
Ask an attorney a written question
The user describes their situation, the assistant drafts a short summary and confirms it with them, then submits it to an attorney. The answer arrives within 1 business day. The user can ask follow-up questions on the same thread and check the status at any time.
- Example ask: “My employer changed my contract without telling me. Can I ask a lawyer if that’s allowed?”
Attach a document
For either service, the user can attach a supporting document. The assistant generates a secure upload link, the user uploads the file in their browser, and it is delivered to the attorney with their question or consultation.
