Running a Washington LLC

You can start running your Washington LLC as soon as you finish the steps below. Let us help you get started:
Step 1. Maintain a Registered Agent
You never want your legal and tax documents to get “lost in the mail.” That’s why Washington requires all LLCs to hire a Registered Agent and office.
Step 2. Obtain an EIN
Registering for an Employer Identification Number only needs to be done once. It will never expire.
Step 3. Develop an Operating Agreement
Washington calls LLC Operating Agreements as “Limited Liability Company Agreements.” The state makes it optional to create one but they do stipulate that it must be in writing.
Step 4. Arrange an Organizational Meeting
Washington does not specify any requirements when holding an organizational meeting.
Step 5. Send in an Initial Report
What type of business is your Washington LLC? Who are your company’s officers? You’ll answer these questions and more in your Initial Report. Washington does not mandate you to complete one.
