Dear _________________:
As you may have heard, the _________________ office has been short-staffed for several months now. The branch manager called me recently to say that their office simply cannot handle the work-flow unless we send them some of our most talented people to help out.
_________________, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that you really are one of our most productive and talented staff members. The bad news -- for me, anyway -- is that I have to ask you if you would be willing to accept a transfer to _________________, to help them until they complete their reorganization and rehiring. The move would be for at least one year. Naturally, we would pay your moving expenses and relocation bonus. _________________.
It is my understanding that _________________ is a beautiful place -- good weather, good schools, good water, and great _________________. But I know that moving is also stressful. I certainly cannot force you to move; but if you would consider it, it would help the whole company tremendously. We would appreciate it.
_________________, please talk this over with your family and let me know your decision by _________________.
Sincerely,
