For many years, _________________ has had a merchandise return policy that enabled customers to bring merchandise back for a complete refund, no matter how much time had passed since the original purchase and no matter how heavily used the item was. We were able to maintain this policy because all of our customers honored the spirit of the policy and returned goods only when they were truly defective.

 

In recent years, however, we have been flooded with returns of perfectly good merchandise. We have come to feel that the intention of the return policy is no longer being honored by some individuals.

 

Therefore, we are informing you that we are changing our return policy. As of _________________, customers will need to present their original invoice and be prepared to demonstrate what was wrong with the merchandise in order to obtain a refund.
