A second generation Oklahoman and a ninth generation American, Mr. Gatliff attended the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was a member of the American Indian Law Review and received a J.D. with Distinction in 1998. He has also received a B.A. in Communication from the University of Oklahoma and an M.A. in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has additional study at the University of Texas at Arlington and the University of North Texas.

Mr. Gatliff has practiced in the areas of commercial and banking litigation, contract law, trucking law, bankruptcy, real estate foreclosure, landlord-tenant law, consumer and commercial collection, automobile service warranty litigation, commercial loan workouts, copyright litigation, administrative law, long-term care law, and personal injury defense. He is a former Planning Commissioner for the City of Mustang, Oklahoma, and has written and practiced pro bono in the area of land use.
