Meet Amanda
Amanda graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut and attended Santa Clara University School of Law where she graduated magna cum laude (top 5% of her class).
Before opening her own practice, Amanda worked as Deputy County Counsel for the County of Santa Clara in the Health & Hospital Section and for other established Family Law firms in San Francisco.
Family Law, what does that mean and why did you choose that area?
I started my own family law practice so that I could have a direct impact on individual clients.
I grew up in Palo Alto, as the daughter to a mom who was an Attorney and a dad who was a Dentist. It took me a long time to realize the significance of their chosen professions—if you think about it, very few of us get excited about having to see their dentist or their lawyer. Despite their career choices, my parents always appeared happy to go to work each day and said that they loved their client-centric work.
It was only when I opened my own practice in 2015 did I realize that it’s a great feeling as a professional to provide relief to someone who is in pain, overwhelmed, and stressed out. I’ve found that I really connect to helping people during the crisis, and providing at the minimum an outline for what is likely to happen next with their case.
The truth is that folks are not thrilled at the prospect of meeting with a lawyer about their divorce. My goal is to make the divorce process as streamlined, tailored, and compassionate as possible to help alleviate my client’s stress and anxiety. I know that my family law clients often have many things to worry about. This is why I try to use coaching, technology, and transparency to make it easy to work with my office.
I’ve learned that the best part of my job is seeing the relief that clients experience when they are able to make an informed choice about difficult family law issues.
What made you join Rocket Lawyer On-Call attorney network?
Working as an attorney, it has become evident what a difference a good lawyer can make in people’s lives and how difficult it can be for everyday people to access legal services. This is why I joined the Rocket Lawyer on call network because the network is in line with my core values—a desire to keep legal services as accessible, transparent, and affordable as possible.
Rocket Lawyer allows me to connect with clients at a time that works best for their schedule to see if we are a good fit. Because Rocket Lawyer does the first round of intake, I can have substantive conversations with on call clients—giving them real answers to their questions.
What do you do for fun?
