Event Brings Light to Innovative Golf Facility for City Kids
SAN FRANCISCO
(October 9, 2009) – RocketLawyer.com (www.RocketLawyer.com), the easy legal service™, was honored to co-host a reception this week in support of The First Tee of San Francisco (www.thefirstteesanfrancisco.org). The reception helped mark the opening of new golf and learning facilities for urban students in the Visitacion Valley neighborhood of San Francisco, which has been neglected too often. The event was held at the opening of the President’s Cup golf tournament, which was attended by former President George H.W. Bush, Mayor Gavin Newsom, PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, team captains Fred Couples, Greg Norman and the U.S. and International golf teams, led by Tiger Woods for the U.S. team and Ernie Els for the International team.
The new facilities are an initiative of the First Tee of San Francisco, the local chapter of the national organization, which strives to provide children of all backgrounds with a chance to learn life skills through the game of golf. Especially true for inner city kids, the resources and facilities for learning the game are typically out of reach. The new First Tee of San Francisco Learning Center, the first of its kind in the United States, brings state-of-the-art golf facilities to students at Visitacion Valley Middle School. Now inner city kids in San Francisco can practice their swings while learning essential life skills through the center’s program.
“The reception at the President’s Cup was a huge success," said Judith Powell, Executive Director of The First Tee of San Francisco. “It provided a platform to reach people about the new facilities and the First Tee mission.”
