A Consulting Agreement contract is a document that specifies the terms of a relationship between a consultant and his or her client, which may be a business or an individual. Any time you hire a consultant to perform services on your behalf, it is in your best interest to draft consulting agreement forms that specify the services to be provided and the conditions for successful completion, such as budget, results or completion deadline. Consulting Agreements often include non-compete and confidentiality clauses.

In addition to specifying what the consultant is obligated to do on behalf of the client, the Consulting Agreement also needs to specify the client’s obligations to the consultant. The Consulting Agreement should include the agreed upon rate of pay and the terms of payment. For example, some Consulting Agreement contract terms may allow consultants to bill in advance, some specify weekly basis, and others allow billing only upon final completion of the project.

Both the client and the consultant need to fully understand the information contained in the agreement, and both parties need to sign the document. Consulting Agreement forms are important legal documents. It is important to use legal forms that fully protect the interests of all parties involved in the Consulting Agreement. Before trying to draft this important document on your own, look at the sample Consulting Agreement and other free Business Legal Forms available to try from Rocket Lawyer.
