Corporate records such as incorporation documents are available to the general public. Other documents available to the general public include:
  • Liens
  • Litigation
  • Bankruptcy documents
  • Real property transactions
The corporate documents are available through the state’s department of incorporations. Other documents are available through the court system. Liens are filed in the public records and may be filed in publicly available UCC document filings. The UCC document filings show secured liens. Each UCC document also shows the name and addresses of the debtor and creditor.

Real property transactions are also filed in public records and can be easily accessed. These transactions include the owner name on the property, property statistics (size of the building, the lot, the type of building), tax records for the property and owner information.

Litigation is filed with the clerk of court. Certain documents may be available online, but for the most part, the general public would have to go to the courthouse to see every document in the litigation.
