Free Video Clearance

You want to use someone else's video, but you need permission first. That's where a Video Clearance can help. Maybe it's for a commercial or a public service announcement. Maybe it's just for your website. You can't just toss up a video without the okay from the owner. A Video Clearance can help you get the go-ahead.

Having a finalized Video Clearance proves that you have the permission to use someone else's video. Usually you'll put this agreement together when you're not paying anything to use the video. Let's imagine that you're using some historical footage (owned by someone else) in your documentary. You spend time and money putting it together and finalizing the film. Then you discover that the copyright owner objects to you using this video. If you don't have a Video Clearance, you may have to pull out the material you don't have permission to use, putting your entire project in jeopardy. Better get the Video Clearance done in advance to avoid any potential problems.

Use the Video Clearance document if:

  • You wish to use video or audio footage of people in various settings for a website, publication, or other use.
