If you're ever unable to make decisions about finances or other important matters, a Power of Attorney will appoint someone to do it for you. A Power of Attorney grants legal permission to another person or organization to act on your behalf in certain legal and financial situations that you choose. By law, a Power of Attorney becomes ineffective if you become incapacitated or legally incompetent, but a Durable Power of Attorney is designed to remain in effect even if you become incapacitated.
