Sometimes you need a little help making big decisions. A Power of Attorney allows you to give legal permission to someone else to act on your behalf if you?re unable to write checks, sign official documents or handle other legal matters. A Power of Attorney can be General (granting broad powers) or Special (granting powers only over specific situations). It can also be made into a Durable Power of Attorney, which means that the authorization would remain in effect even if you became incapacitated.
