How do I choose a real estate agent to sell my house?

A good way to pick an agent who will do the best job for you is to invite three brokers or agents to inspect your house and prepare a comparative market analysis. The analysis is a research tool used by agents to determine the value of your house. By comparing the quality and thoroughness of the three reports, you can learn a lot about the quality and thoroughness of the agent.

You should also evaluate the characteristics of the various real estate firms, including memberships in professional Realtor associations, sales figures for the past six months, and advertising techniques. Then be sure to interview each agent carefully, asking questions about the agent's background, experience, and how the agent plans to market your house, including which aspects will be emphasized and what type of buyers will be targeted.

Remember that the agent will be working for you, so you must feel comfortable with the agent and confident of his or her skills and determination.
